With Valentine's Day arriving a week from today, I thought I would share some of the message we received in church this morning. Usually, when a couple gets married, they are professing to be together for the rest of their lives. We don't enter into the union planning a divorce. Well, the information I am about to share with you are the six ingredients for a lasting marriag. 1st Ingredient: Acceptance. "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." Romans 15:7 2nd Ingredient: Attention. ..."Love one another deeply, from the heart." 1 Peter 1:22 3rd Ingredient: Adjustment. "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." Ephesians 5:21 4th Ingredient: Amnesty. "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against on another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:14 5th Ingredient: Appreciation. "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up." 1 Thessalonians 5:11 6th Ingredient: Affection. "Greet one another with a holy kiss." Romans 16:16 Believe it or not, sex is even addressed in the Bible. To paraphrase Paul's advice on sex in 1 Corinthians 7:3-5, it is a legitimate need; it is not to be ignored; it is a vital part of your relationship; it is for mutual benefit and it is a spiritual responsibility. |
